Background

Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council and Sheffield City Council have obtained support from their Regional Centre of Excellence and embarked on an exemplar project to deliver mobile and flexible working into their Regulatory Service Departments.  The project also has close links with both the Nomad efficiency board and the Modernisation and Efficiency Team of the Department of Communities and Local Government.

Having previously worked with Barnsley to deliver a Mobile Headstone and Cemetery Inspection solution as part of Nomad , Kirona were chosen through a tender process to partner both authorities to deliver the Intelligent Mobile working platform for ReGS.  Completion and implementation of the Kirona mobile headstone and cemetery inspection product has helped to underpin the efficiencies that mobile working delivers and lay the foundations for the roll out of phase one of the ReGS project.

The ReGS solution is delivered using Kirona’s mobile application tools, which are subject to continual development to keep pace with technology.  In combination with the Kirona Mobile Generators (KMG) the appropriate Kirona enterprise components are used to deliver a packaged mobile ReGS service product.  This process is undertaken for each service delivery area, ensuring the selection of relevant tools and components to fit the required mobile solution for each business process.
