Business Case

Phase one of the project is currently delivering inspection solutions to enable officers involved in a variety of service delivery areas to complete key business processes on the move while updating relevant back office systems in real time.

Barnsley and Sheffield have mapped out the key processes within their services that will achieve the quick win of maximum efficiency savings, both cashable and non cashable, as quickly as possible.  Using both mobile and flexible working models for 212 front line staff, the cashable business case outlines a planned reduction of 72 desk spaces and recovery of 10%, of officer time from non-essential processes and unnecessary travel providing an annual saving of £750,000.

The non-cashable benefits include improvements to the quality and accuracy of service delivery, better response times from mobilised officers, reductions in absenteeism, better staff retention/recruitment and paves the way for service delivery out of core hours, as well as improved work life balance for staff and the wider organisational benefits of a modern approach to employment.
