Building Control

Service Outline

Building control includes the statutory and routine inspections made during the construction stage of the building to ensure compliance with the building regulations and associated legislation and guidance.

Motile Building Control integrates with existing Building Control Back Office systems and allows inspectors to gain access to information immediately, limiting the number of visits to site and to the office.  This also eliminates the need to duplicate information that most departments create on paper and hold in hard copy files.

Motile Building Control Functionality

Phase one includes

  • Real time search and display of application data
  • Real time search and maintenance of inspection and inspection action data
  • Generate electronic building control inspections and completion certificates with pre-populated system data for review and optional signature capture in the field
  • View associated information to a building control application that would be required to complete an inspection
  • Work in a consistent manner through inheriting the business rules contained within the back office system
  • View and record spatial data

Management

Management and team leaders can view a hierarchy of the complete team and contact details for each of the clients held within the back office function. Building Control departments will see the benefits of integration into customer relationship management and document management suites.  This integration allows on-site users to access files, drawings, plans and notifications automatically, which will address the Parsol and “Priority Outcome” requirements.

Inspection plans

Most Building Control departments have more than six different types of inspection plans.  All can be access by Intelligent Mobile whilst on site.  Building Inspections are becoming more complex with Corgi gas registration, sound installation and electricity certification are now included in Building Control guidance notes and building regulations.  The use of Intelligent Mobile scripts can greatly assist with this process by providing structure and control whilst completing building inspection certifications.

Key Performance Indicators

Building Control departments all have performance indicators to meet.  Typically, there are 12 indicators that address local and national requirements covering local and national indicators.  Examples include: Percentage of domestic and non-domestic applications decided and checked within a set period, First time approvals, Sites Inspected within certain time scales, etc. Intelligent Mobile can greatly assist in meeting and exceeding the KPIs by providing real time access to disparate systems, people and processes.

Intelligent Mobile Building Control will also drive the following additional benefits:
